A figure, admittedly, that does absolutely no justice to how slightly obsessed with scarves I have become. It all started when I bought these gorgeous grey hand-knit scarves from Vietnam for like a dollar or less, then I bought another one with blocks of bright autumn colours. At first the intention was to warm myself from the bone-chilling cold, but then I did not want to take it off anymore.
As it stands, November is fast approaching and yet the weather here is still quite humid. But since the rest of the world is beginning to get cold, most of the clothing brands have their autumn and winter collections on display. I’ve seen quite a few lovely scarves along the way, and because most of them are quite pricey for my taste, I simply decided to course my adoration for scarves through this quick little doodle I threw together last night. I had drawn this awhile back, but it wasn’t until last night that I scoured through the web to find some lovely fabric textures and patterns to colour my scarves with. You may click on the image to enlarge and see of what I’m speaking of.
Let’s pretend for a second that the brown-haired girl I drew is myself. As you may notice, most of the outfits I drew on me involve shirts and tank tops, the sort of comfortable casual wear I always go for. Luckily they also look good with scarves. My most favourite way of wearing it is probably the seventh drawing (yellow scarf) because I like the way it stays locked around my neck while falling lazily down at the front. I suppose that is why I subconsciously chose to fill the scarf on that drawing with yellow– my favourite colour on my favourite way to wear a scarf.
It’s really unfortunate that scarves are not practical for wear in the tropical country where I dwell, else I would have a huge collection by now! Unless it’s December and the weather is a bit more chilly, or if you stay indoors air-conditioned all day, very rarely do you see people wearing full-fledged scarves. If you walk around outdoors with a scarf around your neck, by the end of the day, the scarf would have been like a towel with the amount of sweat it is sure to have absorbed. That’s why I always look for an excuse to go to places that would require the wearing of these fashionable and versatile articles of clothing (and in effect get to buy more scarves in the process!). Unfortunately still, I hate winter. I hate that kind of dry cold. What I absolutely love is autumn, when the weather is perfect and just chilly enough to merit a scarf. That kind of weather comes about only during December to February locally, which to me seems like such a short time. But I cherish every occasion I get to wear them, even the occasions I get to make these kinds of drawings.

i love scarves..if you are wearing somthing simple, and want something wow – scarf!
I completely agree!
